Life and death in Mexica thought, together on one shirt: Mictlantecuhtli, the skull-faced lord of Mictlan, the underworld, who ruled with his wife Mictecacihuatl, and Quetzalcoatl, the Plumed Serpent.
The two are linked in myth. Quetzalcoatl journeyed down to Mictlan to bring back the bones from which humanity was created anew, mixing them with his own blood in the goddess Cihuacoatl’s hands. Souls who died in certain ways began a four-year journey through nine levels of the underworld toward rest.
Printed on a soft, lightweight 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton tee (heather colors are a cotton blend) with a retail fit, ribbed collar, shoulder tape and tear-away label. Original art by Aztlan Design.
