Maya Calendar Tee | Ancient Maya Glyphs and Timekeeping Art | Aztlan Design

The Maya tracked time with extraordinary precision. Their calendar combined a 260-day sacred count (Tzolk’in), a 365-day solar year (Haab) of eighteen 20-day months and a final five-day period, and a Long Count that numbered days from a fixed starting point. The two shorter counts together repeat every 18,980 days, about 52 years (the Calendar Round).

The Maya used these calendars to chart the movements of the sun, moon and planets. When the 13th bak’tun of the Long Count ended on 21 December 2012, it marked the close of a cycle and the start of another, not an end of the world. This design celebrates that heritage in glyph-inspired art by Aztlan Design.

Printed on a soft, lightweight 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton tee (heather colors are a cotton blend) with a retail fit, ribbed collar, shoulder tape and tear-away label. Original art by Aztlan Design.
